Male menopause, commonly referred to as andropause, can cause depression. This is primarily due to a deficiency in the testosterone hormone. Just as adequate levels of testosterone cause a sense of well being, deficiencies can cause the opposite. It has been reported that men with low levels of testosterone are x4 times as likely to be diagnosed with depression versus men with adequate testosterone levels!
